Day 10 – Share your experience · Step 2 of 2

Step 2: Complete your Synopsis

Topic · 1 minute

Let’s face it. Up to this point, this course has been a breeze.

However, reading and copying isn’t anywhere near the arduous task of synopsising.

And sadly, there is no escape. Writers must write a synopsis on occasion.

Yesterday you prepared a first draft synopsis. Today you’re going to perfect it, by focusing on clarity and concision. Your final synopsis should not exceed 500 words.(*)

“But how will I know I’m doing it right?”

If you just ‘tell’ the story, and include all the main elements, you should be doing fine.

Still unsure? Check the examples in the Materials for Day 1.

Finally, don’t forget to keep your checklist handy.

Happy with your synopsis? Upload it below. Otherwise, you’ll have plenty of time to complete it after the course.

To receive feedback, please make sure you include your name in the filename (e.g. “Aaron Sorkin – Waitlist Synopsis.pdf“).

The button below will direct you to a Google Drive Upload page.

(*) You can make your synopsis as long as you like, but if you’re more than 10% over the 500-word limit, we may not give you feedback.
