Day 22 – The Pilot Synopsis

Day 22 – The Pilot Synopsis

Day · 1 minute

You are invincible!

When the hero reaches the final act, we’re confident they’ll win.

You’re here, which means you left the hardest part behind you. Congrats!

After three weeks, you’ve built up a healthy routine, and this final week will give you the opportunity to consolidate it.

You will still have a few really important tasks to complete.

We’re going to write a synopsis for the Yellowstone pilot, and as we did with the feature synopsis in the first half of the course, you will receive notes to your work.

The Series One-Pager

While it’s impossible to create an industry standard series one-pager from just the pilot, you may well make an attempt! Here is what it includes:

  • Title ☑️
  • Genre ☑️
  • Format ☑️
  • Comps (references for genre, style and tone) ☑️
  • Logline ☑️
  • [A paragraph summary of the story]
  • A one-sentence description of each of the major characters [and their arc] ☑️
  • [A short paragraph summary of the first season]
  • [A paragraph describing the series arc and where other seasons may go]

When you submit your synopsis, try to follow the format of the one-pager as much as possible. Include the points indicated with a checkmark, while leaving out what is between [square brackets].

But first, you are going to choose between two meaty Mastery tasks.

Ready?

Let’s dive in.
