Immersion Script

Day 1 – Prologue · Step 3 of 5

Schedule and Tools

Topic · 2 minutes

Every day you’ll be performing at least two out of the 3 main tasks:

1. Discovery

You will discover great writing by reading and synopsising the material, and then record your learnings in a script journal, and shape it into a manifesto.

2. Forgery

During the first half of the course you’ll perform Forgery, i.e. copying selected scenes. This will take about 10 min for some, 20 min for others.

3. Mastery

In the second half of the program, you will show your Mastery by transcribing a minute or two of actual video material, from a film or show. This, too, may take you between 10 and 20 minutes.

Workload

The total workload of this training course is somewhere between 10 and 15 hours. So, technically you could rush through it on one adrenaline-fuelled day.

But that is exactly what we recommend against, as it is a sure-fire way to burn out, lose interest, and miss out on building a routine.

Instead, we’re going to work fast for 20-30 minutes every day, and finish on a high.
When you’re done, you’ll keep the appetite to continue the next day.

You will find it easier to build this routine if you do the work roughly around the same time every day.

Daily Schedule

The daily tasks should take up about 20-30mins. If you run over just a little, that’s fine. But do set yourself a hard daily deadline (e.g. 45 min).
Once you’ve completed the work OR hit your deadline, wrap for the day.
Even if you’re keen to continue, keep that energy to dive back in tomorrow.

To prevent you from running behind, and then rushing through the steps, you may use a countdown timer to keep track of your work minutes. But don’t stress about the time it takes. Do whatever you feel is reasonable.
